What about the first two pictures of Telescopus fallax, there is no cat like eye seen.

I have found this species on Peloponnes and it looks quite different.

Is it Telescopus fallax for sure?

Yes, without any doubt. The animal was photographed at night. In the dark their pupil shape can be (and usually is) round. This is true for all sorts of nocturnal animals (cf. Alytes obstetricans, cats, ...).

Sure those 2 pictures are T. fallax. It's the typical offset colour pattern on the dorsal and ventral side plus that indicated line moving towards the scull.

Say, how are the average temperatures at that time of year (May/June)?
I wanted to go there last year in Aug. but was too afraid, the temperatures could kill me:-)

Hi Jürgen,

I think we had about 28-30 °C most days, which is in fact too hot for snake hunting at mid-day so we mainly searched mornings and evenings plus at night for Telescopus.
