After a hiatus of six decades, the Hula Painted Frog has decided to re-appear – back from extinction!
Yesterday, INPA ranger Yoram Malka was conducting a routine observational transect in the closed portion of the Hula reserve, when he observed a "strange" frog or toad, he wasn't sure. Lo and behold, it turned out to be an adult Discoglossus nigriventer, probably female. Tomorrow it's gonna be all over the news, at the moment here's a small sample of an early-bird journalistic account:

Now I must find a new "claim to fame" for our collection to HUJ, which until a couple of days ago was the only place on earth where one could see this creature!
