Hello All,

I have a question about breeding my Orthriophis taeniurus ridleyi... Can anyone tell me how long after mating, the eggs will be deposited?
and how many days can one expect it will take to incubate the eggs?

Hi Jakob,

First, I don`t keep these myself. Since nobody`s been responding yet, I`ve checked Schulz` Monograph of the Colubrid Snakes of the Genus Elaphe Fitzinger (1996).
There it says, E. t. ridleyi lays between 7 & 15 eggs which appear quite small compared to the indochinese subspecies. They can mate several times a year.
In one case they mated at the end of March & the female layed 7 eggs in the last week of May. After 70 days the babies hatched out.

Schulz` taeniura mated between Nov. & Dec. & incubation took between 65 to 67 days (at 27-28 C). He doesn`t mention at what time the eggs were layed.
